So we arrived to the Voltes V Run Manila race late and people were already getting their medals. The challenge they took on was the hilly race route of McKinley West Taguig. Despite this, we can only see happy faces and excitement as the runners made their way back to the event grounds.
Voltes V Run Manila 2018 Makes History!
The first Voltes V Run Manila was held last February 10 at Bonifacio Global City. Around two thousand Voltes V fanatics gathered to celebrate the anime’s 40th year in the Philippines. Each of them received Voltes V-themed race shirt, race bib, drawstring bag and the finisher’s medal at the end of the 5-km run.
The runners enjoyed an exciting program at the venue! Special prizes were of course given for Best Costume, Best Runner (shortest time), Eldest Participants First Registrant, Voltes V Award and Lucky Bib. No 0040 (40th anniversary). Raffles were held by various sponsors like Yakisoba, Mogu Mogu, Saucony, Devant and Red Planet. While Baskin Robbins held brain freezing eating contests!
Let’s not forget one of the most awaited activity, the Voltes V Karaoke Challenge that many took on. The top five who had the most likes on their YouTube video battled it onstage with Ms. Horie Mitsuko as one of the judges. The grand prize winner Johannie aka, Hino Fujiwara received Php 20,000 in cash, a trophy and gifts from sponsors! They all sang with Ms. Mitsuko, the original singer of the Voltes V opening theme.
The Voltes V Run Manila is organized by Tokyo Gets Co. Ltd. (Japan) and its Philippine partner, TEN:22 Business Solutions.
